This year, again, Susan G. Komen Walks around the country had to adapt to COVID-19 and the theme of “Walk Where You Are.” Breast cancer survivor Ginger Modiri and her husband took these changes in stride, gathering with family and friends for the event.
Breast cancer survivor Ginger Modiri stresses the importance of getting mammograms on time. To celebrate her 8-year anniversary of being cancer-free she organized a walk after the More than Pink Walk was cancelled because of COVID-19.
Once the statement “you have cancer” passed through my ears and hit my brain, I experienced a temporary form of hearing loss. I could see the radiologist’s lips moving, but I didn’t hear a word he was saying.
“My nurse navigator recommended acupuncture to treat the pain. The key is to find an acupuncturist who is skilled and trained in treating patients with cancer,” says Ginger Modiri, wife, mother, and grandmother.
