The Assistance Fund
855-845-3663The Assistance Fund (TAF) is an independent charitable patient assistance foundation that helps patients and families facing high medical out-of-pocket costs by providing financial assistance for their copayments, coinsurance, deductibles, and other health-related expenses. TAF currently manages more than 30 funds—each of which covers the FDA-approved medications that treat a specific disease, such as melanoma, breast cancer, head and neck cancer, lung cancer, and others, depending on funds available. Since its founding in 2009, TAF has helped more than 43,000 adults and children access the medicines they need to stay healthy or manage a chronic condition.

These programs help patients needing an unrelated donor for a bone marrow or cord blood transplant. The funds pay for costs (including copays) not covered by insurance that may accumulate while searching for a donor and for 12 months after a transplant. This foundation offers 2 financial assistance programs for patients in need of a bone marrow transplant. The Lifeline Fund covers costs associated with a transplant, including copays, medical treatment, and a variety of living and travel expenses, and the Scholarship Fund assists students who have undergone a transplant, are enrolled or enrolling in a primary, secondary, or college-level school, and whose annual household income is less than $55,000. Funding helps cover tuition, supplies, and educational homebound equipment.

Eligible patients must be undergoing chemotherapy or be prescribed a targeted drug; be covered by private insurance, by an employer health plan, or by Medicare Part B, C, or D; and have an adjusted gross income of up to 4 times the federal poverty level.

Emilio Nares Foundation
