On November 27, 2017, I was diagnosed with stage III esophageal cancer. I started teaching myself to paint a few years earlier, during another personal health scare. Art became my love after the cancer diagnosis in 2017. I use acrylic on canvas in my paintings. Painting allows me an escape. For me, the beauty of art is that it awakens the imagination. Art is the ultimate support group. My treatment and my life are in God’s hands, so now I am free to paint.
