As a longtime AONN+ member, Danelle serves on the Academy’s Leadership Council, and is Co-Chair of its Quality Metrics Task Force. Her leadership helped the task force identify and document 35 new metrics for navigation that concentrate on return on investment, patient experience, and clinical outcomes in 2016. For her efforts, AONN+ recognized Danelle with its Exceptional Research in Navigation Award.
Danelle also serves on AONN+’s National Certification Task Force and helped to develop core curriculum and a test blueprint for the national certification exam that was launched at the academy’s annual meeting in November 2016. In addition, she co-chairs AONN+’s Evidence into Practice Committee with a mission of enhancing collaborative engagement by utilizing evidence-based practices around broad-quality initiatives.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from Azusa Pacific University and her master’s degree in nursing, with an emphasis on leadership and management, from Western Governors University. She holds many certifications, including Oncology Nurse Navigator–Certified Generalist, Oncology Certified Nurse, and Certified Breast Care Nurse. In addition to being an avid researcher, presenter, and teacher, Danelle is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society.
The Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) is the largest national specialty organization dedicated to improving patient care and quality of life by defining, enhancing, and promoting the role of oncology nurse and patient navigators. Our organization of over 8,900 members was founded in May 2009 to provide a network for all professionals involved and interested in patient navigation and survivorship care services to better manage the complexities of the cancer care treatment continuum for their patients. The Journal of Oncology Navigation & Survivorship (JONS) promotes reliance on evidence-based practices in navigating patients with cancer and their caregivers through diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.
