This month, CONQUER: the patient voice released its fifth annual “Patient Guide to Cancer Support Services” issue, which aims to help patients and their caregivers, and nurse navigators, providers, and members of the multidisciplinary cancer care team become aware of the financial support services available to the patient. This guide is an easy-to-read, tabbed publication that ensures patients with cancer receive the best available treatment while alleviating some of their financial burdens.
“You may be surprised to see how many pharmaceutical companies today provide financial assistance for their cancer drugs,” said Lillie Shockney, RN, BS, MAS, HON-ONN-CG, Co-Founder, Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+). This guide provides detailed information about support services offered by drug companies for more than 30 types of cancer. The issue is sorted by both drug and disease state in order to quickly find programs offering financial assistance to the oncology patient.
