My wife says I have been painting during all the 60 years we have been married. However, when I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2014, my image-making hands gave me a new purpose. My landscapes became visions of an eternal nature beyond my time, the everlasting hills of New Mexico. I was painting things “for all time”—a legacy to draw me outside of myself, a calm place, where bodily complaints were forgotten, and I could see a new world growing in my hands.
