This is my first painting, which I created when I was experiencing all sorts of emotions, because of my diagnosis of stage I triple-negative breast cancer, and I wanted to express them in a new way. I decided to paint at a Paint and Sip event in Trinidad. I was scared at first, because I was—and still am—an amateur painter.
This painting depicts a scene by the sea: I tried to select a nice background, with waves and clouds by the water. I used oil and pastel paints for this painting.
This painting meant a lot to me, because cancer has a way of getting under your skin. You need to find ways not to let that happen. One way to do so is through art. I have tried it—and it works!
